The question we get in regard to legal blogs is this. Why have a legal blog? Here are a few basic answers on why we think a good legal blog can help you generate legal business and new clients.
(1) A legal blog on a specific area of law will show people you are serious (or should we say passionate) about a particular legal topic. For example, if you have a legal blog that talks about “strict products liability” or “foreclosure defense in Phoenix” you will let potential clients know you have a serious interest in these specific legal areas. Clients want to hire an attorney who is passionate, experienced, and knowledgeable in their field of law.
(2) A nice legal blog allows you to have a nice legal presence and to force yourself, as an attorney, to keep abreast of the major legal issues affecting your area of practice. By showing the world that your law firm “keeps up” on the latest cutting edge legal issues effecting your practice area can make a huge difference as far as credibility is concerned.
(3) A legal blog for lawyers can be used to promote your practice in both online and offline marketing efforts.
Bottom line, blogs can be a lot of fun for lawyers as it is your chance to actually become a recognized authority on a specific legal topic (ex. Phoenix Copyright Lawyer) in a specific region. If you get started now, you can get a HUGE jump on your competitors who are sitting around scratching their heads wondering what direction to take their legal practice.
Top Seven Reasons to Hire a Contingency Fee Lawyer
- When a lawyer agrees to take your legal case on a contingency fee basis, they are essentially taking the risk that you have a good case (instead of you paying hourly legal fees hoping that you have a good legal case).
- You do not pay up front fees to a contingency fee attorney. Now, there may be some initial case filing fees and service of process fees, that you will be responsible for, but for the most part you will not have to come up with a large up-front advance retainer fee in order to retain the services of an attorney.
- Your contingency fee lawyer will be just as incentivized as you are to make as much as they possibly can on a case, which may promote harder work by the contingent fee law firm. For example, if your Contingency fee attorney is working on a 33% contingency fee basis, they will take a third of the final recovery, which means the more money the lawyer is able to settle the case for, the more money both the Attorney and Client will realize. To get a higher dollar settlement, the attorney may be motivated to work harder and come up with clever legal strategies that help win the case at trial or promote a larger settlement without the need for trial.
- The contingency fee case may tend to be settled quicker and work its way through the courts faster than a case where the attorney or law firm are working on an hourly basis? Why is that? A contingency lawyer is relying on a settlement to get paid, and may be motivated to work as hard as possible in the shortest amount of time to achieve the desired result. A lawyer working on an hourly fee basis is paid for each hour they spend on a case (and it is common knowledge that many big firms impose billable hour requirements on their attorneys), and this means that in some cases, the incentive is to “rack up the billable hours” rather than promote quick and efficient settlements. Of course all attorneys are bound by ethical rules to only bill time that is reasonably required or necessary to a case but at the same time attorney have built up their reputations for a reason.
- One of the other problems with billable hours is that most attorneys “round-up” their time when calculating their billable hours. What this means is if you make a 2 minute phone call to your hourly rate attorney, the attorney may round-up to the nearest 1/10th of an hour and bill you for 6 minutes of time. Check your retainer agreement as each law firm is different. This means, all those two minute phone calls and emails to your attorney can really add up, even though certain time is not actually spent working on your case. This may seem a little counter-intuitive, but this type of billing is permitted in most states. A contingency fee attorney on the other hand may not be keeping track of time spent on your case (unless they are seeking to recoup their attorney fees in your case) and therefore you do not have to watch every legal bill like a hawk to make sure the time “adds up” so to speak.
- With a non-contingency fee law firm or case handled on a billable hour assignment (rather than on a contingency fee basis) you will typically get a monthly invoice itemizing all the time spent on your case and the bill may result in “payment shock” as those $250-$350 per hour fees can add up pretty fast. When hiring a contingency fee lawyer, you may never see a monthly invoice, which means you do not have to go into a panic every time you see a letter in your mailbox from your lawyer.
- Most people think only personal injury lawyers take cases on a contingency fee basis. This is not true. There are many other legal categories where attorneys, law firms and lawyers may agree to take your legal matter on a contingency retainer basis. For example, you may be able to find the following types of lawyers willing to consider taking your legal case on a contingency fee basis:
- Contingency Fee Contract Lawyer
- Contingency Fee Real Estate Lawyer
- Contingency Fee Business Lawyer
- Contingency Fee Copyright and Trademark Attorneys (Intellectual property)
- Patent Lawyers who may take your case on a contingency fee basis
- Employment Discrimination lawyer to take case on contingency fee
- Contingency Fee Loan Modification Lawyer
- Eminent Domain lawyer to take condemnation case on contingency fee
- Arbitration Lawyers who are able to take case on contingency due to attorney fees clauses in your arbitration agreement
- Consumer Law cases that can be taken on a contingency fee basis
- Constitutional law cases that may be taken on a contingency fee basis
- Class action lawsuits on a contingency fee
- Sports Lawyers who take cases on contingency fee
- Entertainment lawyers who may consider taking your case on a contingency fee basis
- Litigation lawyers may work on contingency agreement
- Libel and Defamation Lawyers who may work on a contingency fee arrangement
The list goes on. The point is, in these tough economic times, (which may endure well last into the next decade), many lawyers who refused to take cases on a contingency fee basis may be re-thinking their practices and consider offering to take one or more types of legal cases on a contingency fee basis.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 8, 2010
ContingencyCase.com – “Explore Your Legal Options”
NEW EXCLUSIVE LEGAL DIRECTORY FOR ATTORNEYS THAT CONSIDER TAKING CASES ON A CONTINGENCY FEE BASIS!
PHOENIX, ARIZONA, FEBRUARY 8, 2010 – ContingencyCase.com, has recently launched a consumer resource website that seeks to connect potential legal clients with law firms, and attorneys who will consider taking legal cases on a contingency fee basis. When consumers, individuals, employees, and business owners are specifically looking for contingency case attorneys, it can often be difficult to locate one without calling up a multitude of law firms and inquiring into whether or not they take cases on a contingency fee basis. Even the state bar of most states may have a difficult time identifying which lawyers and law firms might take a particular case on a contingency fee basis. Accordingly, what should be a relatively simple assignment often translates into a rather daunting task.
ContingencyCase.com aims to provide consumers, business owners and others with the opportunity to quickly search over 100 legal categories (in the states and cities of their choice) and quickly identify potential attorneys and law firms in those cities and legal categories who have previously agreed to consider taking legal cases on a contingency fee basis. Although there is no guarantee any attorney will take a case on contingency, this web directory resource will help individuals identify contingency fee lawyers that may be able to assist.
For attorneys and law firms, the ContingencyCase.com online web directory provides the opportunity to reinvent their legal practices in these tough economic times. Many consumers, individuals, employees, and business owners still need legal services, but these people may not have the funds they once had to pay legal and attorney fees. As a result, we believe attorneys and law firms should give consideration as to whether it is time to reinvent their legal practices to address the current financial crisis and economic realities that affect so many people and companies. This crisis may well continue through to the next decade.
Attorneys can also use ContingencyCase.com to advertise to other attorneys that they pay referral fees and/or joint representation fees, which can be a valuable business generation tool when looking to give and receive potentially lucrative legal referrals with other legal professionals.
Please investigate our web opportunity at www.ContingencyCase.com. Our website is an “exclusive directory” as we allow only a maximum of 10 Attorneys to be listed in each city/legal category. You will not get lost in a sea of crowded web-links on our website.
The time has come for attorneys and consumers to “Explore Your Legal Options” by logging onto ContingencyCase.com at http://www.ContingencyCase.com. We also offer custom law blogs for Attorneys, samples of which can be viewed at www.CustomLawBlogs.com.

The following are some of the types of questions we get at www.ContingencyCase.com and how we usually answer them.
OBJECTION: Your Software is Too Expensive…….
RESPONSE: Not true. Our software is reasonably priced and based on how much exposure you want on our site. At the very least you should buy the Cities and Legal Categories that are ESSENTIAL to your practice (for Example, if you are an Eminent Domain Attorney in Phoenix, Arizona, you should at least buy Phoenix Eminent Domain, and Scottsdale Eminent Domain, and this will not cost you much ($150 per year). Check out the pricing page on our website, or better yet, click on the “Attorney Signup Page” on our website and see it for yourself. If you do not buy your MAIN PRACTICE AREAS, there is a good chance your competitors will.
What do you need to make money on this site? 3 or 4 new deals per year?
________________________________________________________
OBJECTION: How do we know your company is going to be around (we don’t trust internet companies)……….
RESPONSE: I understand your concern, you should know that ContingencyCase.com is investor-backed and that the owner of the company has been in the software business for over 10 years. This is NOT a “fly-by-night” internet company. The product has been in development for over two years.
________________________________________________________
OBJECTION: Can you Guarantee we will get business from your website?
RESPONSE: Of course in life there are no guarantees, but we do guarantee we will work very hard, and will continue to work hard marketing our website to the Internet Community. Bottom line is if we cannot drive traffic to the website you will not be around after your initial sign-up period. Our goal is to keep you around. We will do this by using an integrated marketing approach that utilizes offline advertising and word of mouth, in addition to internet marketing techniques such as blogs, web videos, link posting, search engine optimization and other marketing techniques which are propriety to our company.
_________________________________________________________________
OBJECTION: How does your company drive traffic to the website – what is the Plan?
RESPONSE: Again, we will seek to drive traffic to our website using an integrated offline and online marketing approach that utilizes blogs, web videos, link posting, search engine optimization and other marketing techniques including word-of-mouth advertising and offline advertising. We are well-aware of the challenge and we take our business serious.
Get in with a few listings and see how it works for you. Other sites can charge literally thousands of dollars (however we do not disparage our competitors).
______________________________________________________________________
OBJECTION: Why should I advertise on your site and not one of the other more-established sites like Martindale Hubbell, or Nolo?
RESPONSE: Again, check around and take a look at some of the other Attorney Directories out there (sorry, we do not provide names of potential competitors as this is company policy). What you will likely see is convoluted databases that provide you the opportunity to be little more than a FACE IN THE CROWD. Other sites will often charge you an arm and a leg to be listed on their sites.
At ContingencyCase.com we do the reverse, we believe you will find our fees to be less expensive than the other websites, and our website is EXCLUSIVE in that we only allow 10 Attorneys or Law firms (per legal category and city) to be listed on our Website. This means, that when a user comes to Los Angeles Truck Accident, for example, there will not be links to 1,000 Attorneys, rather, there will be a maximum of 10 law firms listed. This is better for your firm, and better for the consumers using our website to find Contingency Lawyers.
In addition, even if you like one of the other Attorney directories, there are a lot of attorneys that will advertise in several databases, again, because the Client leads these days are being generated largely via the web. Our company aims to get you as much exposure for your money as possible.
In these times of serious financial crises, having a company focused on Contingency Lawyers (and we know of no other database like ours) is a great position to be in.

OBJECTION: Takes too long to get setup / Software Setup is Painful – I am too busy
RESPONSE: I can appreciate that – in your business time is money. We have a customer support team that can help you get your profile setup in as little as time as possible. If you want our assistance to get you going, we will send you a Firm questionnaire to fill out and we will do the rest. You can start the process by going into the software and getting signed up, purchasing your advertising spots, and entering your billing information, we can do the rest for you. Or, if you have no time for this, we can even do the complete setup process over the phone. You tell us what works for you.
________________________________________________________
OBJECTION: I am not ready to make a decision, we need time to think about it / have marketing approve the budget, etc.
RESPONSE: That’s fine. Please keep in mind that once the 10 spots are filled in each Advertising Spot (which is a legal category and a city) those spots are gone. So please give it some thought, but with our low-cost pricing options, we have strived to make the purchasing decision an easy one. Call me when you are ready to get started, or just go online to www.ContingencyCase.com and click on the “Attorney Startup” link at the bottom right-hand corner.

What does it take to have a nice legal blog?
By · CommentsA legal blog should be neat, clean, and user-friendly. A user who lands on your legal blog should be able to QUICKLY ascertain what are of law you practice. A good law blog will focus on a narrow topic of law and will evidence research and scholarship (i.e. create confidence in the attorney or law firm) in that given practice area.
As you can see on the home page of this blog, an Attorney can create a lot of different blogs within a focused practice area. For example, under the heading of real estate the attorney handles loan workouts and loan modifications. This practice area can be further subdivided into several differnt legal blogs. For example, produce the note blog, rescission loan blog, trial plan modification fraud, etc.
The point is, but focusing on individual legal topics, you have a chance to “own the keywords” (for example type trial plan fraud into google and the law blog “TrialPLanFraud.com” will likely pop up on the first page. This is an example of targeted internet market Blog Style!
By having a comprehensive law blog marketing strategy, and providing updated legal content on your site (we suggest at least one comprehensive posting to your legal blog each week), you should start to see an increase in web traffic, and hopefully in internet leads (which may be waiting for you in the morning as you start your day at the law office).
These are just a few tips, there are other things you need to know. For example, your blogs can be linked to a “pay-per-click” marketing campaign that can generate additional leads to your targeted law blogs.
So, what are you waiting for? Call us for custom quotes for your blog today. (888) 600-1777.
ContingencyCase.com thanks you for your time.
Law Firm Blogs: Are you missing valuable internet leads?
By · CommentsOkay, so I am assuming you have figured it out by now……..which is why you are looking at this website………You are not getting enough internet leads right? You are wondering if there is something you can do to increase your business and somehow MAKE IT RAIN!
Well, let’s keep it simple, HERE ARE FIVE THINGS YOU (PROBABLY) ARE MISSING (Besides Business):
(1) YOU DO NOT HAVE Five Blogs that focus on individual legal offerings in your area of practice (for example: Real Estate Zoning Blog / Eminent Domain Blog / Real Estate Broker Law Blog / Loan Workouts Blog). 5 Different websites that each establish you as an authority in your field. Why? Because you are willing to post one nice blog post per week on each of your five different blog sites. After your first year, you will have 50+ blog posts on each website. Heck, after three years people will be asking you to be a speaker on your area of law. At the end of the day, what I am getting at, is you will get more leads because people will want to seek your advice on the issues you discuss on your blogs. Pretty cool being recognized as an authority.
(2) You are not creating creative and informative content such as VIDEO and AUDIO clips. Hello, can you not shoot a 5 minute video once a week and find two hours to edit it on your Mac computer and then post it on You Tube AND on your award-winning blogs? The future is here gang, it is time to create and post viral video and audio content. When I say VIRAL, I am suggesting that your video and audio MUST be SHORT, ENTERTAINING, CREATIVE, AND WORTH PASSING ON TO THE NEXT GUY. If you ever wanted your own TV show, now is the time gang. Go get yourself a macintosh computer and video camera and start shooting some video. If you can’t do this yourself (right brain thinker) contact ContingencyCase.com at (888) 600-1777. We can send a crew to your office and cut out some video to add to you tube and to add to your blog.
(3) You do not have any FORM SUBMISSION PAGES and you are NOT DOING AN PAY- PER- CLICK ADVERTISING. Guys and Gals, this is the Internet Age, the phone book and newspaper advertising is going the wayside. Look around, they are going out of business. All you need are a couple of form submission pages on your narrow topics of law and then follow that up with a targetd and focused pay-per-click campaign. Don’t know how to do it (I do admit it takes a while to get things going) contact ContingencyCase.com – Internet Marketing Consultants.
(4) You are NOT RETHINKING AND REINVENTING YOUR PRACTICE: Times are changing and so is the practice of law. We are experiencing major economic hardship in the year 2009 and this is predicted to last many years if not the whole decade. People need legal services but hey may not have the ability to pay for them as they used to be able to do. Is it therefore time to rethink yur practices areas, and rethink your fee structure? You have to be creative, you cannot be like all the other 700,00+ private attorneys across the united states who have no clue how to harness the power change and creating legal solutions that meet the test of our times. Maybe it is time to figure out some way to offer a contingency fee service and get listed as a Contingency Case Lawyer on www.ContingencyCase.com, an online legal resource for consumers seeking a contingency case lawyer. Word of Mouse advertising is the name of the game today.
(5) You are not using an integrated Internet strategy described above and combining that with offline mass marketing (mainly the radio). Did you know you can buy your time on most radio stations? Yes, that is right, for a fee (which is probably not as bad as you think), you can reach the masses and promote your blogs (i.e. promote your business). So, you not only get to have FUN IN YOUR PRACTICE (god forbid) but be marketing yourself while you do it. And as far as I know, every state bar authorizes radio advertising.
This is just a short overview, and there is more to share. For a no-nonsense discussion about your website, web marketing, blog strategies, pay-per-click consultations, getting listed in our Contingency Attorney database, etc., contact an INTERNET MARKETING SPECIALIST at www.ContigencyCase.com.
